Week 2, cont'd: 27 Sep - 3 Oct 2010

Accomplishments this week:

Birgit at the Danish-Nepalese Society has put us in contact with a Nepalese native, Madan, who will help us translate the letter to the hospital where Ghane is located - THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Also, we have received a tentative medical evaluation from Dr. Jacob Haaber Christensen of Odense Universitetshospital, who has written some research pieces on hydrocephalus and the effects of shunt system treatment some years back. Of course he cannot judge the specific case without seeing the girl, but his comments are valuable.

This weekend, Birgit and Madan came to our house, and we talked over the details of the letter and my possible trip to Kathmandu. It turns out that Madan will be out there for a while, and he is willing to help us, not just with the letter, but going to the hospital in person, meeting me at the airport, act as translator during my stay etc. This is SO fantastic, and we're VERY thankful!

Madan will have the letter translation ready during the coming week, and if the Paropakar Hospital is positive about our offer to help Ghane to treatment, then I'm looking at traveling to Nepal after Sebastian's birthday party mid-October!

This is getting scaringly real, but we look at Ghane's pictures every night, and there's no question in our mind, we have to do this.

Do you understand why we're doing this?
