Late March 2011: we're leaving tomorrow
Suitcases are packed, and so is the container outside our house, filled with incubators, wheelchairs, beds, operating tables, a mobile x-ray and boxes of sterile equipment and other medical equipment. After hours of re-packing, we managed to fit everything into the box, tied down and wrapped for the long journey across the world.

March 2011: Running an NGO is hard work!
Christian and I now have tickets for Nepal - we're leaving next Monday!
The container from Maersk was dropped of outside our house last week (!) – not an everyday sight in surburban Gentofte, I must say! The next 2 days, drivers will be dropping off medical equipment, and it is scheduled to leave Copenhagen next week and arrive in Kathmandu in May. THANK YOU SO MUCH TO ALL YOU DONORS AROUND THE COUNTRY!
The paperwork is a nightmare: packing lists, donation letters, invoices – most of it due to Nepalese customs clearance, tax etc. But we’ll get it done – with all the stuff I have had to deal with druing this journey, this is not going to put me off.
We have raised over 100,000 DKK which is now being cut into 2 checks, one for Paropakar, one for Annapurna. THANK YOU!
I’m doing what I can to give meaning to Victoria’s life and death – she did not die in vain.
But I’d give all of this back in a heartbeat, in exchange of having Victoria here with me.

I attended the Danish equivalent of World Press Photo this afternoon - Årets Pressefoto 2010 - and Mads won 1st prize in the multi media category for his piece on Victoria.

Line got up and received the prize, as Mads is in Libya - it was quite moving, because even though all this attention is so good for our fundraising, every picture I see of little Victoria reminds me that she's not here anymore....
Feb-Mar 2011: Sunday Times Magazine, Irish radio, Bild am Sonntag
Mads Nissen won 3rd prize in World Press Photo Awards for his Victoria-pictures, and there's an article in Sunday Times Magazine which is published in UK & Ireland 27 Feb.
So, I quickly had http://www.victoria-foreningen.org/ translated into English (Thanks to Sara for helping!), with international bank transfer details and a Paypal donate-button.

Christmas 2010: In the Name of Victoria
Line and Mads published their article series “In the Name of Victoria” over Christmas: www.b.dk/victoria
Since then, time has not stood still: Christian and I decided to use the publicity to raise money for Annapurna and Paropakar Hospitals, to help some of the other “Victorias” out there, now that “our” little Victoria didn’t make it.
Attention has been overwhelming: I have put my emotions on hold and thrown myself into the charity work full-time, aside from my job and family: I answer the 300 emails I get every day in person: appear in DR’s “Aftenshowet” (select 3 January 2011) and TV2’s “Go’ Aften Danmark” and “Lounge"; set up the website www.victoria-foreningen.org in order to raise money, which includes getting municipal approval to collect money from the public; engage a pro bono authorised accountant to keep the books; set up separate bank accounts, make a charter and constitute a board for Victoria-foreningen / The Victoria Association.
As offers to donate medical equipment began to pour in, I managed to get a container donated by my employer A.P. Moller – Maersk to ship to Kathmandu when filled with used hospital devices.
